Dale Hollow Lake — Tennessee's Best Kept Secret

Federally protected. USACE-recognized for pristine water quality. Home to the world-record smallmouth bass. Most people have never heard of it. Those who have, keep coming back.

The Lake That Rewards the Curious

World Record Waters

Dale Hollow Lake holds the world record for smallmouth bass — caught here and never beaten. This is one of the most legendary fishing lakes in America, and most people have no idea it exists.

Pristine by Designation

Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and officially recognized for water purity, Dale Hollow’s 27,700 acres of pristine water remain among the clearest you’ll find anywhere in the country.

Hidden History

When the water drops each fall, submerged cemeteries, forgotten homesteads, and ancient fossil beds surface from beneath the lake. History that’s been underwater all summer, hiding in plain sight.

Protected & Unspoiled

Protected wilderness, quiet coves, and a lake that looks much the same as it did fifty years ago. That’s increasingly rare, and worth protecting.

Explore Dale Hollow — Beyond the Obvious

These aren’t generic travel guides. Each article covers a specific place, experience, or piece of hidden history that most Dale Hollow visitors never find. Learn what makes Dale Hollow Lake truly one of a kind.

The Only Way to Experience All of It

One privately owned home. Directly on the shoreline. No marina check-in, no boat trailer, no schedule but yours.

The Lake House on Dale Hollow is the only privately owned rental home sitting directly on the shoreline of Dale Hollow Lake — not tucked into a marina, not shared with a resort. Eric and Shauna have called this lake home for years, and the house is set up the way people who actually live on the water set things up: come and go from the water all day, stay out until the sunset is gone, and come back when you’re ready.

✓ Waterfront access — no trailering, no ramps, no check-out times

✓ The only rental with direct,  shoreline access on Dale Hollow Lake

We Know This Lake

The Lake House on Dale Hollow has been in our family for over 40 years. Eric grew up spending summers here — and in 2020, made it permanent. Our boys are now making the same memories on the same water.

That’s why everything on this site goes beyond the obvious. We’re not travel bloggers passing through. We live here. And there are things about Dale Hollow that you only learn after decades on the water — and that’s exactly what we’re here to share.
